About Me

Hi everyone, and welcome to my Get Healthy Gut website,

As far as I can remember, I’ve struggled with gut problems at a very young age, lying down in the nursing office at school feeling bloated and in a lot of pain as a teenager.

As an adult, belly cramps, diarrhea, constipation, bloating, and uncontrollable gas were my norm most of the days. In fact, I was scared of going out, and when I did,  I would look for the closest bathrooms wherever I went.

Things got worse that sometimes I’ll be in the bathroom for hours on end, emptying my bowels and having cramps that I felt like passing out due to lack of energy. Sometimes in the middle of the night, I’d wake with unbearable stomach pain, and I’ll run to the bathroom back and forth several times at night, exhausted that I couldn’t wake in the morning.

I’ve seen numerous physicians for many years before I was finally referred to a gastroenterologist specializing in gut problems. After running some tests, the Dr. told me that I had an infection called Helicobacter pylori; he then gave me an antibiotic, which slightly helped, but my stomach issues continued.

Of course, I went back to see the doctor again when my gut problem didn’t resolve. Then another diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)  was made after a colonoscopy was done. The doctor showed me a list of foods to avoid and told me to increase my fiber intake, and send me on my way.

But to no avail, II continued to struggle for many more years. I was so desperate that I took matters into my own hands and started researching and digging into books, specifically on home remedies and holistic health. Back in the day, when the internet was not as popular, I came across a book called uncommon cures for everyday health published by bottom-line health. I became obsessed with all the great health tips that it provided.

I learned about sensitivity to milk and milk products, known as lactose intolerance. After I stopped having milk, which I mostly used for cereal at breakfast, and boy! what a relief for the first time in all those years, I felt better, and the stomach cramps stopped.

Since then, I believe that we all know our bodies more than anyone else, so we need to take care of it in the best possible way by eliminating anything that causes harm—for instance, all junk food.

This is where my journey begins to help myself and others. As a healthcare professional, I have seen many of the patients I provide care to have stomach problems such as constipation, IBS, and Crohn’s disease.

As you can see, many diseases that human beings suffer mostly originate from the gut. As Hippocrates, known as the father of modern medicine, said about 2,000 years ago, “all diseases begin in the gut.”

This website was meant to share helpful tips, reviews, recipes, and beneficial quality information to improve your gut health.

Thanks for visiting my gethealthygut.com website; I hope this was helpful
